Sir,

I have the honour to report with regret the death

of Inspector D. McHardy of the Hongkong Police which took place at

the Government Civil Hospital at 4.10 a.m. on the 5th December,

and to attach a copy of the report of the Superintendent, Govern-

ment Civil Hospital.

At the request of Mrs. McHardy I telegraphed as

follows on the same day:-

"Regret to inform you of the death of Inspector LicHardy "Police Department today Bright's disease. Not desirable *in my opinion to send information to his mother but lira.

"Smith 3 Eden Street Dundee should be informed".

Deceased's widow will, I understand, be granted a

pension under the Widows and Orphans Pension Fund of $345.16 at 3/-

equals £51.158.6d per annum.
